Vince Li has been found not criminally responsible for the unprovoked killing and beheading of fellow passenger Timothy McLean on a Greyhound bus last summer.
Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench Judge John Scurfield said Thursday that Li, 40, could not be found guilty of murder and is not criminally responsible for the crime because he was mentally ill at the time of the killing.
“These grotesque acts are appalling… but are suggestive of a mental disorder,” the judge said.
“He did not appreciate the act he committed was wrong.”
What?! So as long as you act like you don’t APPRECIATE that what you’re doing is wrong, then you’re not guilty??? Murderers, go do your thing in Canada! It’s open season! Start hacking up and eating whatever innocent victims you want! The worst that will happen is a “yearly assessment!” Great deal for brutal murderers and cannibals!
Li had pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. Psychiatric evidence at his trial suggested he is a schizophrenic who suffered a major psychotic episode last July 30 when he fatally stabbed McLean, 22, ate some of the body parts, and cut off McLean’s head.
For five hours after the killing, Li wandered around on the bus, defiling the body while an RCMP tactical team waited to subdue him.
Rather than go to prison, Li will be kept in a secure psychiatric facility, most likely in Selkirk, Man.

- At approximately 8:30 pm on Wednesday, 30 July 2008, Li began to repeatedly stab Tim McLean, for no apparent reason.
- Tim McLean struggled and tried to escape, as evidenced by a number of defensive wounds.
- Li came to the front of the bus and tried to exit. The bus driver was able to close the door on Mr. Li’s arm, with the bloody knife extended outside of the bus.
- Mr. Scyrup, another Greyhound driver who pulled over to help, realized that Li was severing the head of Tim McLean. Scyrup got off the bus, as he realized that Tim McLean was dead and could not be helped.
- Li went to the front of the bus, holding the severed head of Tim McLean in one hand and a black-handled knife in the other hand. He motioned that he wished to be let off the bus.
- Li threw the head of Tim McLean into the stairwell and then returned to the back of the bus and continued to mutilate the body of Tim McLean with a buck knife and a pair of scissors.
- Li appeared to smell, and then eat parts of Tim McLean’s flesh. He also appeared to lick blood from his fingers and hands. Mr. Li continued to carry Tim McLean’s internal organs and various body parts throughout the bus, later returning to bag them in white plastic garbage bags. He also carried the head of Tim McLean from time to time.
- After arrest, found in Li’s pants pocket was a plastic bag containing Tim McLean’s ear, nose, and tongue.
- A variety of Tim McLean’s body parts and organs were found throughout the bus.
- The tip of the knife blade was located in the skull of Tim McLean in the forehead area just above the inner aspect of the right eyebrow.
- The autopsy reveals that the cause of death of Tim McLean was multiple stab wounds.
- The body of Tim McLean showed evidence of damage in excess of 100 areas, ranging from abrasions to a large gaping wound of the chest.
- The eyes were missing and not recovered.
- The internal organs were recovered, in plastic bags, in 4 separate areas of the bus.
- Dr. Littman, the pathologist, estimates that one third of the heart of Tim McLean was never recovered and it is presumed that Mr. Li ate it.
- Tim McLean’s eyes were never recovered, and are presumed to have been eaten also.
Li denies eating the flesh of Tim McLean.
Carol deDelley, Tim’s mother, said, “The laws are grossly inadequate in circumstances like this. NCR (not criminally responsible) may have its place or may be correct in some circumstances. I don’t think so, not in this one. And now every year we will have to undergo a review to ensure the public is safe from Mr. Li.”
Justice John Scurfield will deliver his verdict this morning. Scurfield said he would review medical reports in the case before issuing his verdict.
“Hopefully (I can) express it in a way that is understandable to Mr. McLean’s family, Mr. Li and the public in general.”

President George Bush had shoes thrown at him during a press conference in Baghdadyesterday. An Iraqi journalist, who surprisingly didn’t get his ass shot, whipped not one but BOTH of his shoes at the president after calling him a “dog.” Personal feelings of Bush aside, you gotta admit the bastard is quick which will apparently come in handy considering the Secret Service are lame-ducking it themselves. To emphasize my point, check out the agent who hops up to the stage after the attack then acts like he’s on top of things: “No, Mr. President, I wasn’t just playing gameboy. It would really have been impressive if that oh-so-brave and patriotic journalist had thrown his shoes at Saddam Hussein back when he was still in power. After that journalist had been tortured for a few weeks, he’d probably have been strapped in a chair gnashing his teeth (if he had any left) and digging his fingernails (if he had any left) into the arms of the chair as he watched Saddam’s goons torture and execute every member of his family (not to mention the raping of the female family members). Then they’d have taken his beaten and broken body and tossed him while still alive into one of their favorite toys: the industrial plastic shredder!

Arson Auspected in Fire at Palin’s Church
WASILLA – An overnight fire at Gov. Sarah Palin’s church caused an estimated $1 million in damage, and investigators say it could be the work of an arsonist. Firefighters were called to Wasilla Bible Church about 9:40 p.m. Friday and found flames and smoke coming out windows at the back of the three-story structure, said James Steele, chief of the Central Mat-Su Fire Department.
Five women were inside the church working on crafts, and possibly two children, but everyone escaped unharmed after a fire alarm alerted them to trouble, Steele said.
It was a major fire, the biggest the department has seen this year, and Steele said volunteer firefighters from across the region came to fight the blaze. As many as 35 to 40 people responded, he said.
Firefighters had to tear open wall spaces in the metal building to snuff out hotspots and were on the scene until after 5 a.m. today, Steele said.
“We are definitely treating it as suspicious and as potential arson at this point,” he said.
Steele declined to provide details on why investigators believe the fire might have been set deliberately, or whether accelerants were found on the scene.
The building is worth between $4 million and $5 million, and sustained an estimated $1 million in damage, he said.
A task force has been formed to investigate including people from the state fire marshal’s office, the Central Mat-Su Fire Department, the Wasilla Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Anchorage Fire Department also sent out an investigator.
The church, located off the Parks Highway on the north end of town, is one of the biggest in the Valley with a typical Sunday service drawing up to 1,000 people. Several well-known Valley residents attend the church, including Palin and state Rep. Wes Keller, R-Wasilla.
Palin’s office issued this statement today:
“Gov. Palin stopped by the church this morning, and she told an assistant pastor that she apologizes if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate on Aug. 29. Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good.”
Bill McAllister, the governor’s media spokesman, said he wasn’t sure when Palin last attended the church. He said she would not attend services tomorrow morning because she’s traveling to Juneau to release next year’s state budget. But the governor’s children do plan to go to church, he said.
The church’s Web site says the congregation will meet at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Wasilla Middle School.
Church Pastor Larry Kroon, reached at home Saturday morning, said he’d been up all night and was still in a state of disbelief.
He said the church was in only its second winter in the building, and he confirmed the $1 million damage estimate.
“It’s one of those things – it feels surreal,” he said.
The pastor said he was especially disturbed someone would set the fire while people were inside.
He said he had talked to fire officials, but didn’t know of any specific clues.
“The possibilities are so wide and variable,” he said. “Someone intentionally did it, but we don’t know who and why.”
The pastor declined to speculate whether the fire was politically based or directed at Palin, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully as John McCain’s vice presidential running mate. Kroon also declined to say whether the church has received any recent threats.
Kroon was at home when he got a call from the husband of one of the women who had been in the building. By the time he arrived, smoke was pouring from the windows of a back corner of the building.
The building is equipped with a fire sprinkler system, Kroon said, but the fire was burning in the walls and took hours to put out.
Most of the damage was confined to the back corner of the building where four offices and a classroom are located, he said. There is also water damage and the entire building smells like smoke, he said.
Steele, the fire chief, said nothing has been found thus far to suggest any political motivation for the fire.
“Right now there’s no indication that we have that there’s any connection there. We just don’t have any leads at all as far as the intent or motive in this,” Steele said.

The korea Times A court handed down suspended jail terms to four family members who repeatedly raped a teenage relative who suffered from an intellectual disability.
The Cheongju District Court Thursday sentenced an 87-year-old grandfather and two uncles of a 16-year-old girl to four-year suspended prison terms for sexually assaulting and raping the girl for the last seven years. Another uncle received a three-year suspended jail term.
The court acknowledged that their crime was “sinful” as they used the young girl, who is their family member, to satisfy their sexual desires. But it gave the suspended terms, saying, “The accused have fostered the girl in her parents’ place. Considering her disability, she will also need their care and help in living in the future.”
The court added it took the accused people’s old age and illness into consideration.

…the Joongang Ilbo has a lengthy English-language article on the case of four family members in Cheongju given suspended sentences after raping a handicapped girl over seven years. More outrageous than the verdict, though, was that one of the reasons the judge ruled the way he did was because these four men will need to help take care of this girl in the future. Give the whole thing a read, even if it comes a week or two late, and doesn’t have much information on what will actually be done. It does say about the online petition to have the judge removed
While an angry public joined the signature drive, it has no legal standing to impeach the judge. Under the Constitution, one-third of sitting lawmakers must agree to submit a bill of impeachment. After that, a vote of over half of the lawmakers is needed to actually remove a judge.
So pretty much nothing to the judge, I guess.
One glaring omission, as noted by a Dave’s commentor, is that no mention is made of what will happen to the girl.Are there no homes that can look after her rather than the goddamned family that raped her? Is anyone trying to help her, to give her a home? I’d be the first to donate money to give her a place to go, if only I knew of some organization like that set up.The article talks about the domestic outrage at the ruling, but from what I saw the story didn’t make very big news. The several times I checked it wasn’t among the most-viewed stories on Naver, and that the petition has only some 16,000 signatures is telling. That works out to a mere 400 a day since my November 24th post, thus showing that as English-language coverage was slowly increasing, interest among Koreans was tapering off. I don’t need to tell you how small a number that 400 a day is, given how many Koreans use the internet and how worked-up netizens get over stories large or small.
I and others sent the story around to other outlets, but while they carried the actress adultery story, they didn’t bite on this one. A few forums and bloggers helped get the word out, but I’m surprised it wasn’t bigger news. As you can tell, Koreans are very sensitive about overseas media attention, so you can bet any story like this that causes embarrassment would get more things done. Actually, the cynic in me says that a foreign microscope would lead to more editorials about how foreigners need to mind their own business and stop distorting Korea’s image.

Sunday on Meet The Press with Tom Brokaw, Barack Obama finally admitted he still smokes now and then. Beldar addressed this topic in March and April, and I’m still not impressed with Obama’s chronic evasiveness on this issue.
Nevertheless, America has had Presidents with similar inclinations – both smoking and evasiveness – and Obama won’t be the last President who portrays himself and his actions in the best light possible. A Korean immigrant who lost his wife, two children and mother-in-law when a Marine Corps jet slammed into the family’s house said Tuesday he did not blame the pilot, who ejected and survived.
“Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident,” a distraught Dong Yun Yoon told reporters gathered near the site of Monday’s crash of an F/A-18D jet in San Diego’s University City community.
“He is one of our treasures for the country,” Yoon said in accented English punctuated by long pauses while he tried to maintain his composure.
“I don’t blame him. I don’t have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could,” said Yoon, flanked by members of San Diego’s Korean community, relatives and members from the family’s church.
Authorities said four people died when the jet crashed into the Yoon family’s house while the pilot was trying to reach nearby Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Another, unoccupied house also was destroyed.
Yoon named the victims as his infant daughter Rachel, who was born less than two months ago; his 15-month-old daughter Grace; his wife, Young Mi Yoon, 36; and her 60-year-old mother, Suk Im Kim, who he said had come to the United States from Korea recently to help take care of the children.
Fighting back tears, he said of his daughters: “I cannot believe that they are not here right now.”
“I know there are many people who have experienced more terrible things,” Yoon said. “But, please, tell me how to do it. I don’t know what to do.”
… Yoon’s wife came to the United States about four years ago, Shin said.
Yoon spoke softly when he talked about his wife.
“It was God’s blessing that I met her about four years ago. She was a lovely wife and mother,” he said.
His voice fading, he added: “She loves me and babies. I just miss her so much.”
The story is brutally painful. Dong Yun Yoon was at work when he discovered the horrible news of a F-18 jet crashing into a residential home – his home. His wife, two young babies, and his mother-in-law who had recently arrived from Korea to help take care of the babies [a Korean custom] all were killed in this tragedy. But in the midst of such deep anguish and pain, Dong Yun Yoon asked people to pray for the surviving pilot of the crashed jet and shared:
“I know he’s one of our treasures, for the country, and I … don’t blame him. I don’t have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could.”
I listen to the Dong Yun Yoon’s video interview on CNN and coudn’t stop crying. Regardless who’s involved, it’s a painful tragedy but looking at him is like looking at a familiar face. His voice and broken English is too familiar. His comments and words…
He married his wife, Young Mi Yoon, four years ago and had two children: Grace [15 months] and Rachel [2 months].
“My wife — it was God’s blessing that I met her about four years ago, and we got married,” he said quietly. “She’s just such a lovely wife and mother, who always loves me, and (the) babies. I just miss her so much.”
It’s very clear from the interview that Dong Yun Yoon is a follower of Christ. His pastor from a local Korean immmigrant Methodist church was right next to him at the interview and a source of comfort and prayer.
“But I believe my wife and two babies and mother-in-law are in heaven with God,” he said. “And I know God is taking care of them.”
And somehow through a faith that transcends human understanding, he managed to extend grace to the pilot:

Let’s examine what today’s corruption eruption in Chicago means. We will dig into our archives to explain today’s developments.
First however, we hope that David Patterson, the Governor of New York keeps himself free of corrupt Obama influence when deciding on who he will appoint as New York Senator to replace the irreplaceable Hillary Clinton. Patterson should steer clear of any “deals” to appoint Caroline Kennedy that come with tainted promises and ensnarement in the Chicago corruption coils.
As we dig through our extensive, first-to-blog-about-Rezko archives on Obama/Rezko and Chicago corruption there are several major points which our readers should be aware of:
This is NOT THE BIG ONE. The complaint filed against Obama pal Governor Rod Blagojevich is a situation forced on Prosecutor Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald acted in an emergency manner to stop the Obama Senate seat from going to another corrupt Dimocrat. “We were in the middle of a corruption crime spree and we wanted to stop it.” said Fitzgerald.
Corrupt Illinois Governor Blagojevich, as a candidate in 2003, ran on a platform of reform and change and that he would clean up the corruption of Republican Governor George Ryan. Ryan is currently serving a 6 year prison term due to raketeering and fraud. Now the evidence of corruption by Governor Blagojevich continues to mount. Like Obama, Governor Blagojevich spouted many flowery words about “reform” but the corrupt acts came stinking forth once in office.
During the past year and a half every time we documented the latest instances of Chicago corruption the Hopium addicts would note that Governor Blagojevich and Barack Obama were not implicated in any way in the corruption. News accounts of Chicago corruption indeed would make specific mention of the fact that Governor Blagojevich and Barack Obama were not implicated in the corruption. Our analysis was fair and we made specfic mention of the disclaimers but we also would note how valueless those disclaimers were. We were and are correct.
Rezko, Rezko, Rezko. Obama slumlord friend and bagman Antoin “Tony” Rezko is in this up to his neck. In today’s complaint the allegation is made that Blagojevich conspired with Rezko and Stuart Levine to obtain financial benefits for Blagojevich and his campaign committee.
If Rezko wants to avoid a very very long prison sentence Rezko needs to “flip” on someone that Fitzgerald needs evidence on for a conviction. Clearly today’s developments destroy Blagojevich and Fitzgerald does not need further evidence to do Blogojevich in. As we wrote a while back, if Rezko wants to avoid jail, Obama is his “get out of jail free” card. Rezko must flip on Obama to get out of jail. We have documented that the prosecutor is looking into the Obama/Rezko house deal, which stinks.
When we stated immediately above that Obama is Rezko’s “get out of jail free” card we do not mean by getting a pardon from Obama. We mean that Fitzgerald and Rezko have to keep the calendar in mind. Fitzgerald acted against Blagojevich in an emergency fashion today before full indictments are ready and ripe. Fitzgerald will likely act further and hopefully soon. Rezko too needs to cooperate fully well before the inauguration in January.What does Tony Rezko know and when will he say it?

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich wanted President-elect Barack Obama “to put something together&something big” in exchange for going along with Obama’s choice to fill his vacant U.S. Senate seat, according to a FBI affidavit unsealed following the governor’s stunning arrest.
“I’ve got this thing and it’s f***ing golden, and, uh, uh, I’m just not giving it up for f***in’ nothing. I’m not gonna do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there,” Blagojevich said in a phone call secretly recorded by the FBI on Nov. 5, the day after the election, according to the affidavit.
“It is conduct that would make Lincoln roll over in his grave,” said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in announcing the charges today in Chicago.
He said the governor’s efforts to “sell” the Senate seat was the “most sinister and appalling” of a range of alleged corrupt acts detailed in today’s case.
Fitzgerald said “there’s no reference in the complaint to any conversations involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it, and that’s all I can say.” His comment did not close the door on the possibility that Obama or someone on his staff may have known of some aspect of the governor’s demands.

ABC News also reports that Blagojevich wanted Obama himself to provide appointments to the presidential cabinet in typical Chicago corruption fashion:
The FBI says Blagojevich wanted an appointment to the Obama cabinet as Secretary of Health and Human Services, a well-paying job, or huge campaign contributions as the price for naming Obama’s successor. [snip]
Blagojevich also sought a high paying job for his wife, according to the FBI. “Is there a play here, with these guys, with her” to work for a firm in Washington or New York, he reportedly asked.
The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser “the president-elect can get Rod Blagojevich’s wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the Senate.”
Told by two other advisers he has to “suck it up” for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this “motherf***er [the president-elect] his senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him.”
The governor is heard saying he will pick another candidate “before I just give f***ing [Senate Candidate l] a f***ing Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”
According to the affidavit, one candidate for the senate seat, identified as Senate Candidate 5, promised to “raise money” for Blagojevich. The governor described, in a recorded call, an earlier approach by an associate of Senate Candidate 5.
“We were approached ‘pay to play.’ That, you know he’d raise me 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator,” Blagojevich was quoted as saying.
Buying public office is corruption pure and simple. That’s what Obama slumlord friend and bagman Rezko is in prison for. Who is “Candidate 5?” What did Obama know and when did he know it? [More than a hint: several accounts, including the Smoking Gun say "Candidate 5" is Obama crony and "godfather" Emil Jones, the president of the Illinois State Senate elected from the 14th District. In one charge related to the appointment of a senator to replace Barack Obama, prosecutors allege that Blagojevich sought appointment for himself as secretary of Health and Human Services in the new Obama administration, or a lucrative job with a union, in exchange for appointing a union-preferred candidate.

The Tribune also notes the Chicago way (the Obama way) of punishing newspapers that tell the truth.
Another charge alleges Blagojevich and Harris conspired to demand the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members responsible for editorials critical of him in exchange for state help with the sale of Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium owned by Tribune Co.
Blagojevich and Harris, along with others, obtained and sought to gain financial benefits for the governor, members of his family and his campaign fund in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state jobs and state contracts, according to the charges.
“The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering,” U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said in a statement.
“They allege that Blagojevich put a ‘for sale’ sign on the naming of a United States senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism.”
The pay-to-play schemes sound identical to the charges Antoin “Tony” Rezko was convicted on.
Attached to the U.S. District Court complaint is an FBI affidavit, excerpted below, alleging that Blagojevich was caught on wiretaps noting that the Senate seat “is a fucking valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.” He was also recorded saying that unless “I get something real good,” he would appoint himself to the vacancy. “I’m going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I’m saying. And if I don’t get what I want and I’m not satisfied with it, then I’ll just take the Senate seat myself.” According to surreptitiously recorded conversations, Blagojevich spoke with associates about the possibility of trading the Senate post for either an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post. [snip]
During a wiretapped November 10 call, a frustrated and financially strapped Blagojevich referred to Obama as a “motherfucker” and said that he would not appoint an ally of the President-elect to the Senate vacancy if “I don’t get anything.” Referring to Obama, Blagojevich exclaimed, “Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him.” In a November 11 conversation, Blagojevich remarked that he knew Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett, a longtime confidante, to succeed him, “but they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them.”
Get ready – the above quotes will be used to distance Obama from Blagojevich by Hopium addicts. To us it sounds like a falling out among thieves. The questions that must be answered by Ali-Bama and his Forty Thieves is what was offered by whom to whom? Also if Blogojevich made unethical or illegal requests to Ali-Bama and his Forty Thieves did Obama or his cronies report the overtures to federal prosecutors?
Barack Obama got earmarks for the hospital Michelle Obama worked for. The hospital then gave Michelle Obama a huge raise in pay and title. The very definition of conflict of interest. That is the Chicago way. Blagojevich has a wife too:
A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.[snip]
It said Blagojevich also talked about getting his wife placed on corporate boards where she might get $150,000 a year in director’s fees. [snip]
The affidavit said Blagojevich expressed frustration at being “stuck” as governor and that he would have access to greater resources if he were indicted while in the U.S. Senate than while sitting as governor.
On Dec. 4, Blagojevich allegedly told an advisor that he might “get some (money) up front, maybe” from Senate Candidate 5, if he named Senate Candidate 5 to the Senate seat, to insure that Senate Candidate 5 kept a promise about raising money for Blagojevich if he ran for re-election.
In a recorded conversation on Oct. 31, Blagojevich claimed he was approached by an associate of Senate Candidate 5 as follows: “We were approached to ‘pay to play.’ That, you know, he’d raise 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator.” [snip]
On Oct. 21, the government obtained a court order authorizing the interception of conversations in both a personal office and a conference room used by Blagojevich at the offices of Friends of Blagojevich. The FBI began intercepting conversations in those rooms on the morning of Oct. 22.[snip]
On Nov. 10, Blagojevich, his wife, Harris, Governor General Counsel, Advisor B and other Washington-based advisors participated at different times in a two-hour phone call in which they allegedly discussed, among other things, a deal involving the SEIU.
Harris allegedly said they could work out a deal with the union and the President-elect where SEIU could help the President-elect with Blagojevich’s appointment of Senate Candidate 1, while Blagojevich would obtain a position as the national director of the Change to Win campaign and SEIU would get something favorable from the President-elect in the future. During the Nov. 12 conversation, Blagojevich allegedly explained the non-profit organization idea to SEIU Official and said that it could help Senate Candidate 1. The union official agreed to “put that flag up and see where it goes,” although the official also had said he wasn’t certain if Senate Candidate 1 wanted the official to keep pushing her candidacy. Senate Candidate 1 eventually removed herself from consideration for the open seat.
Joe Wurzelbacher lashed out Tuesday at former GOPpresidential nominee John McCain, the man who made Wurzelbacher famous as “Joe the Plumber.”
Wurzelbacher told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt “dirty” after “being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place.”
Recalling a conversation he had with McCain about the $700 billion financial industry bailout in September, Wurzelbacher said: “When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen.”
“I asked him some pretty direct questions,” he continued. “Some of the answers you guys are gonna receive — they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.”
Asked why he didn’t leave McCain’s campaign if he was “appalled” by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, “honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more.”
While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain during the interview, he had nothing but praise for his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. “Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal,” he said.

It would really have been impressive if that oh-so-brave and patriotic journalist had thrown his shoes at Saddam Hussein back when he was still in power. After that journalist had been tortured for a few weeks, he’d probably have been strapped in a chair gnashing his teeth (if he had any left) and digging his fingernails (if he had any left) into the arms of the chair as he watched Saddam’s goons torture and execute every member of his family (not to mention the raping of the female family members).
